Day 1- JFK- we all met at JFK at 1 oclock at the Lufthansa terminal. We flew from JFk to frankfurt, germany and it took about six and a half hours. Then we had about two hour to get through security in frankfurt to fly out to rome. After a hour and twenty minute plane ride we were in rome.
Day 2-Rome- now we were in rome and now we had to wait for bags to arrive through the baggage claim, but the electricity then went out in the air port and made everyone wait for get there bags. Luckly I got my bag first and packed some snacks to hold me over. Once we all got are bags we met are tour guide Tyson at the bus. We then had to wait at the bus for a few more hours for other people to arrive. We were all struggleing to stay awake because we have all been up for about 24 hours or so. It then took about 20-30 minutes to get to the hotel. All we did was drop are bags off and then we were on are way. We first saw the piazza navona where there used to be a old race track. Then we walk down to the pantheon, which was awesome, much cooler then the texts books. We then walk another block to the trevi fountain. Now this thing was huge. And made my jaw drop. I coulding even fit the whole thing in one picture. I have to take a few snap shots. We then went to are first included dinner. I was so ecxcited to eat. Althought I was happy to be full but not happy with what I ate. I was very surprised I didn’t enjoy my food.
Day 3-Rome- first stop the Vatican. This and st peters were the main thing I wanted to see. I heard so much about these places from my dad and just news and school. I was excited. So we walked about the Vatican for a few hours. It was HUGE. And then once we got we stopped on some side road and got some food. We then walked into st peters. And it was much much bigger then I thought It would be. So I rad down the road to get to the best view I could of the whole thing and took a bunch of pictures to make a panoramic. Although I was very sad that we didn’t have time to go in st peters church. We had to run down to the colosseum and take a tour of that and the roman forum. Once we got to the colosseum I was quickly bored. I enjoyed taking pictures and hearing what the lady had to say but she was just too hard to understand and her voice bothered me. we then walked down to the roman forum and met up with this lady again. She then took us threw the longest tour I have ever been on. I ran out of things to take pictures of. Although after the tour we had time to get a snack and walk down to the piazza venezia which I thought looked really cool cuz it was so white and big. But after that Thomas and everyone took taxis back to st peters and we got to go in. great idea Thomas! The church had to have been my favorite part of the trip I couldn’t believe what was inside. The detail was ridiculous. We then went on a nice long walk to dinner. We went to this hole in the wall type of place but it had great food. We ordered some bottles of wine tried a million things on the menu. It was great one of the best meals on the trip.
Day 4-Florence-so we had to get up extra early to make the train which took about 2 and half hours. Not bad. Once we got to Florence we met up with are tour guide and we took a pretty quick tour. My favorite part of the tour and Florence was seeing the il duomo cathedral . it was HUGE. I couldn’t believe people made this so long ago. We then had a leather demonstration where we got to learn different things about leather. Where people also bought some nice leather things. We then all met at a restaurant where me jon and james finished before the rest of the group because we sat at a separate table. But we were in a rush cuz I know we had to rush to the uffitzi museum where we walked about for a while and got to see so many pieces from some of the biggest names..
Day 5-Rome to Sorrento- today we had to travel a while to MT Vesuvius which was n are way to Sorrento. It was right by naples. We were at the volcano for a little longer then we had thought. We got to see an amazing vew and smoke coming out of the still active volcano. After we walked back down and after a few rolled ankles. We then were back on the bus and on are way to Sorrento which wasn’t far but we hit some traffic. Sorrento was a beautiful place and seemed like a very young person town and are hotel was beautiful.
Day 6-Pompeii- so we then hoped on the bus from Sorrento and shortly arrive in Pompeii. We got to see the fameous ruins from what everyone read about in there text books. Pompeii was an ancient city that was destroyed by a volcanic eruption. The ruins were actually in really good shape and you could see what everything was. We got to walk into a few buildings that were still standing. We even got to see people that were preserved in the ashes of the volcano. We were then on a few hour bus ride to the ferry. We would then get on the ferry and we got to sleep finally.
Day 7-ferry to Delphi- once we got off the ferry we then took the bus to a nice little resturant on the water and we got to eat some greek food for the first time. The food was pretty good. I didn’t get a big lunch but it ws satisfying. We then got to walk behind the resturant and go to the beach! It was very rocky and my baby feet couldn’t handle it so I had to walk with my shoes on. But it was good to relax in the sun and hang out. After the beach we then got on the bus for a while heading to Delphi. Delphi had many ruins and was on a mountain side. They said that this little city had survive for so long because it was on the inside of the mountain side and no enemies could see them from the water. After we took a bunch of pictures we then walked out of the site and went to the Delphi archeological museum. We roamed around the little museum for about an hour or so and then back on the bus. And headed to Athens.
Day 8-Athens- once we got in Athens we checked into are hotel and then we took the subway one stop over where we could eat and walk around and shop in the different shops. The food was very good and I ate a lot of food. I also enjoyed bargaining with the different shops.
Day 9- Athens- today we got up early and we took a bus tour of Athens we got to stop and see the old Olympic stadium and take a few pictures. Then we continued around and got to see a bunch of important buildings. We then stopped at the acropolis. The acropolis had the Parthenon and the temple of nike. A lot of things were under construction so it was hard to see everything but it was still really nice to finally see in person. After everything we had a group dinner and after that we were allowed to shop around again and see the Athens flew market.
Day 10- cruise- we then got up early to get on the cruse ship. It took a few hours to get the cruise moving but we didn’t wait to start taking advantage of the drinks package and eat all the food we can. But I was still excited to get off the boat and check out the nice things the islands had to offer. First stop was Mykonos. Mykonos was beautiful. The white buildings were so nice and clean cut. We got to see the wind mills and and we got to see the white church. Which was nice and very different. After we walked aound and got lost for a little bit we got back on the boat and ate some dinner.
Day 11-kusadasi, patmos- first we got up early ate some breakfast and got off in kusadasi which is a port in turkey. We got to walk around the bazaar and shop around. Once we arrive in patmos we all walk around as a big group and are jus taking pictures. And we meet up with the other half of the group who went to the beach. Thomas also rented a moped and he gave me a ride and it was a lot of fun.. we then headed back on the boat and ate and got ready to relax on the boat with the group.
Day 12-heraklion-santorini- the next day we woke up and we were in heraklion which was in crete. We took a long walk to a small little museum and we walk around there and took some pictures. After that we just walked around and ate and shopped and drank some water. Then we got back on the boat and ate again and waited till santorini. Once we arrived in santorini we all waited to take smaller boat to get on shore and once we got onshore we got on another line to take donkeys to the top. The donkey experience was a lot of fun but once we got off the donkeys went nuts and almost pushed us off the cliff. But santorini was similar to Mykonos except it was up high on a clif and had buildings going down the side. They were all white and beautiful. I was in loss for words. It was amazing. I took a lot of photos. I also had the best gyro EVER!
Day 13-Athens-Newark- once we got back to Athens we took a bus to the airport and got on a plane and flew too munich, germany. And from there we ate and then flew to Newark, new jersey.
